EUGENIO GONZALEZArtist in Residence (Dance) Eugenio Gonzalez was born in Havana. He studied at the National School of Ballet (1965-1969) where he graduated with honors, under the direction of Alicia Alonso and other prominent teachers like Mirta Pla, Aurora Bosch and Fernando Alonso. From 1969 to 1992, Mr Gonzalez was one of the leading figures and soloist in the National Zarzuela of Cuba, the National Opera of Cuba and in the National Ballet of Cuba, where he performed in many countries such as Mexico, Panama, Brazil and Nicaragua. Mr. Gonzalez danced in the most important dancing Cuban Companies and in the most famous international performances including Swan Lake, Carmen, Nutcracker, Don Quixote and many more. From 1992 - 1996, Mr Gonzalez served as a professor in their National Ballet of Cuba, in the National Zarzuela of Cuba and the National Opera of Cuba. Upon arriving in the Unites States in 2008, Mr. Gonzalez has worked as a teacher and choreographer at schools across Northeast Florida. Mr. Gonzalez has also taught magisterial and private classes at the Dulce Anaya Ballet School. He has been an "Artist in Residence" at WSOTA since 2018.
