FAYE TARIN

Fiddle / Mandolin / Ukelele / Guitar

Faye Tarin was born in Tifton, GA, and grew up in the nearby farming community of Omega. Faye received her first guitar as a Christmas gift as a child and learned songs and chords that she heard on TV and radio from programs such as "Hee Haw" and "The Andy Griffith Show." She continued practicing music as she added other instruments such as the fiddle and Mandolin to her repertoire. Faye began her formal music instruction in 1993 at "Suzuki Talent," which is known today as WSOTA. Kyle Wehner was one of Faye's first teachers! Faye continued her instruction while she went on to play with other local musicians before branching out and receiving the opportunity to play with Mark O'Connor and Buddy Spicher in Nashville. In 2000, Faye founded a Clay County based Bluegrass group called the "Blue River Travelers," performing locally and throughout NE Florida. 

Faye also enjoys songwriting. Her teaching style is performance based, as she encourages her students to actively seek out and play with other people in the same way that she did when she was a student. Faye has been teaching at WSOTA since 2003 and is happy for the opportunity to teach children and adults the joy of playing and performing music in the same company that taught her.
